Main Skills Developed

Through their Personal Development lessons, students will acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to confidently manage their lives, both now and in the future. They will learn how to make informed decisions and identify and manage some of the risks and challenges that they may face. PSHE education equips pupils with the knowledge, understanding, skills and strategies required to live healthy, safe, productive, capable, responsible and balanced lives. Their PD lessons will also help pupils to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem and understand what influences their decisions.

How can parents help to support learning?

Keep an open dialogue with your son/daughter about some of the challenges and risks that they may be facing and explore their fears and worries. If you think that further support is needed, please contact the students’ tutor or Head of Year.

SMSC and British Values

The Personal Development lessons are mapped all against the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Students are provided with opportunities every session to discuss how each of the lessons link to our core character virtues of: love, wisdom, fairness, self-control, courage, humility and integrity.
